Today has again recorded a significant impact in the life of many as Biafra protesters stopped major routes in Onitsha and Nnewi, Anambra State, on Monday in protest of Nnamdi Kanu’s trial in Abuja.
IPOB was said to have sent out signals late on Sunday, requesting its members to execute a sit-at-home protest in the South-East in protest of Nnamdi Kanu’s case, which is set to be heard on Monday [today] in Abuja.
Residents and visitors in Onitsha and Nnewi, however, were unable to conduct business since main routes in both towns were closed.
Sources in Onitsha said Igbo youths made bonfire in most streets , while also ordering vehicles entering the city to turn back.
It was also gathered that Shops, markets and offices were under lock in Onitsha, while streets were deserted.
