A police station was early today attacked by yet to be identified armed men. The gunmen raided the new Nnewi Police Area Command with seven trucks and carried away weaponry in Nnewi.
The armed armed men allegedly entered the police station and began shooting intermittently for more than an hour, according to a source who claim anonymous.
The shootings at Nnewi Police Area Command on Monday afternoon between suspected unknown gunmen and police sparked chaos among the community’s residents.
The attackers had fled by the time a reinforcement from the Navy arrived, according to the source, despite the fact that they were being chased.
When contacted, Tochukwu Ikenga, the police spokesman for the Anambra State Command, claimed his office had not received any information on the event.
