‘Buhari in pains’ as he Mourns Soldiers Killed By ISWAP

President Muhammadu Buhari has conveyed his sorrow over the loss of Brigadier General Dzarma Zirkusu and other troops.

The officers were slain in an ambush by Islamic State extremists in the province of West Africa (ISWAP).

In a statement released Saturday by his media adviser, Garba Shehu, the President said the deceased made the ultimate sacrifice in a rare display of valor while attempting to assist their compatriots in the fight against terrorism.

Buhari, who asked the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Faruk Yahaya, to accept his and the nation’s sincere condolences, also communicated the same to the families of those killed.

“Nigeria has lost brave soldiers. I salute their courage. May their souls Rest In Peace. General Zirkusu leaves us sad and devastated. The soldier in him will remain immortal.

“I pray to the Almighty to give you and the bereaved families the strength and courage to bear this irreparable loss,” said the President in the statement titled “President Buhari, Nation Mourn Martyred General.”
