My government is dedicated to building a progressive and affluent – Gov Obaseki

He maintained his party allegiance will not affect the state’s development ambitions during a banquet held in Benin over the weekend as part of the festivities for this year’s Alaghodaro Summit.

He stated that his government is dedicated to building a progressive and affluent Edo State in which all citizens can live to their full potential.

“I will not join any political party, no matter how persuaded I am.” I shall continue to serve as the Edo people’s leader.

“We don’t need to join another political party to develop Edo to become a home for all.

He said his re-election for a second term in office during the 2020 governorship election in the state had redefined politics in Nigeria.

He said, “Since I became the governor, I have insisted on doing things differently and appropriately and that led to the revolution in Edo State during the governorship election in the state.

“We saw the same thing happened in the Anambra election won by Prof. Charles Soludo and it will also reflect in other elections in 2023.”

Obaseki claims that Edo was created to give leadership for the country and that his purpose is to position the state where it should be.

According to him, the Alaghodaro Summit has become a platform for his administration to prepare the state’s youth for future leadership roles.

He added, “In the last five years, we have been in the foundation laying stage for the development of our state.

“That era has passed and now it’s time to move as fast as possible in developing the state because the challenges and barriers have been taken care of.”

Former All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman and former Governor of Edo State, John- Odigie Oyegun, praised Obaseki for halting irregular migration among Edo youths.

“When Edo prospers, the nation will prosper; our artefacts are all over the world; our achievements are all over. This is what Alaghodaro is all about,” he said.
