Warning: Protesters calls for the release of Sunday Igboho unconditional

Hundreds of supporters of Chief Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho, organized a rally in Ibadan on Saturday, demanding his unconditional release, according to IgbereTV.

Igboho is being detained in the Benin Republic on charges of illegal migration and other offenses.

The demonstrators, primarily teenagers, held placards with varied slogans calling for the quick release of the activist who is now detained by the Republic of Benin.
They began their demonstration in an Igboho residence in Ibadan’s Soka neighborhood and marched to the Ibadan-Lagos Expressway Toll Gate.

According to IgbereTV, the protesting youngsters were chanting solidarity songs, pleading with the Federal Government to assist in the release of Igboho from the Republic of Benin’s captivity.

One of the demonstrators, identified as Kareem Adesope, encouraged Yoruba leaders and other influential Nigerians to lobby the Federal Government to support the activist’s release.

Adesope said the recent news reports that the activist was sick should be a source of concern to all patriotic Nigerians, adding that the activist should not be allowed to die in detention.

He claimed that Igboho was innocent of the charges against him, saying that he should not be treated like a common criminal.
